Clarins Daily Energizer Cream* The Clarins Daily Energizer range is aimed at younger skin types and is designed to eliminate imperfections and promote healthy looking skin. There are two different moisturisers within the range: the Cream, for normal to dry skin and the Gel-Cream, for combination skins. Both of these moisturisers contain an innovative cocktail of four natural ingredients. The first is an energy boosting shot of Vitamin C that stimulates the skin’s natural defences and keep it looking fresh all day. The second is Turmeric or Indian saffron, a powerful antioxidant. The third ingredient is purifying Alchemilla, an astringent plant extract that…

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer* Elasticizer has got to be the ultimate cult hair product. It wins awards left, right, and centre and is renowned as being the most effective hair care treatment on the market. For those who may not know what Elasticizer is, it’s an intensely moisturising pre-shampoo treatment which delivers a huge dose of moisture to the hair’s cuticle. This moisture creates suppleness, elasticity and bounce without weighing down or coating the hair. All you do is wet your hair and comb through a generous dollop of the treatment, relax for 25 minutes and then rinse it off. I know…

2014 Beauty Favourites: Honourable Mentions

Best Beauty Products of 2014: Honourable Mentions

It was pretty hard to narrow down our ten Best Beauty Discoveries of 2014 so I thought I would sneak in a few “honourable mentions” that I also really enjoyed using last year. These are more favourites than discoveries technically, but let’s not get bogged down in the details: Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation If you’re looking for a medium coverage foundation that is luminous but not shiny and has an extremely natural finish, then Liquid Halo could be for you. Application is smooth and silky and it wears really well throughout the day on my combination skin (even better with…

Smooth, Soft Summer Feet: Three Products You Need

The majority of us tend to neglect our feet – I know I am guilty of hastily painting over chipped polish instead of re-doing my pedicure; of leaving my foot file covered in a layer of dust; of depriving my heels of much-needed moisturiser. We can get away with it in winter (although we shouldn’t – our feet deserve TLC year round) when our feet are safely ensconced in thick socks and boots. However, the summer months are less forgiving – cracked heels and dodgy pedi’s are on show for all to see. The shame. Time for a change ladies,…

November Favourites: Camilla

Smitten* A Smitten (Smart Mitten) is a microfiber mitten that is used to deep cleanse your skin using nothing but warm water. No cleanser – just this mitten and warm water *disbelief*. I know – I was very skeptical and didn’t understand how it could possibly work, but I am asking you to trust me when I tell you that it just DOES. You can use it with a cleanser, if you wish, but you don’t need it – I promise. So here is a quick run-down of how it works: the Smitten cloth is a super fine density synthetic…

Today is all complexion-focused, courtesy of some lovely new goodies from Clarins… Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in ‘Champagne’* I did a lot of research about this product because I couldn’t quite figure out its purpose: is it a primer? Is it a highlighter? Can it be worn on its own? After testing it solidly for the past week, I can confirm that the answer is ‘yes’ to all of the above, and I cannot imagine how I lived without it until now. The colour, ‘Champagne’, is a lovely iridescent peach, and it complements my complexion perfectly. I like…

Foreo LUNA Mini Review // Clarisonic Comparison

A few months ago we were sent a Foreo LUNA Mini (“Luna”) to test, but we didn’t want to review it until it was available for purchase in South Africa (which has only happened recently). The Luna is a facial cleansing device which uses transdermal sonic pulsations to provide an extremely deep, but gentle, clean. The pulsations rid the pores of impurities, which in turn reduce the likelihood of any blemishes coming to the surface of the skin. The pulsations also help refine the texture of your skin, leaving it softer and smoother. The Luna is made up of 1,300 touch-points,…

Lush Christmas Preview

Last Thursday evening I attended the Lush Christmas Preview with my darling friend Tori from Kiss, Blush and Tell (you can read her write-up of the event here). If there is anyone who knows how to get you into the festive spirit, it’s Lush. The products were displayed beautifully and there were plenty of staff on hand to talk us through all of the latest offerings and to answer any of our questions. They were all so enthusiastic and excitable, it was impossible not to get swept up in it! There are obviously many, many incredible products available for Christmas,…

We were recently sent some goodies from GOSH Cosmetics to try, so I thought I would do a quick review of all three items. These are all available exclusively from Edgars, and the stock seems to be limited, so if there is something here that catches your eye, you best hurry! Forever Metallic Eyeshadow Stick in ‘Grey’* I decided to really put this to the test by wearing it on a night out with no eyeshadow primer (something I never do). I am pleased to say it held up rather well – the colour did fade slightly but there was…

Review: GLAMGLOW Face Masks

A few months ago the lovely people at Metropolitan Cosmetics sent Jules and I a few GLAMGLOW face masks to try. For those of you not already familiar for GLAMGLOW, it was founded in 2010 for backstage and professional use in Hollywood’s entertainment industry. The masks were made available for retail a year later and proceeded to take the world by storm, picking up awards left, right and centre. The masks are loved the world over due to their ability to help the skin appear instantly camera-ready, refine pores, diminish visible imperfections, and produce a noticeable glow (hence the name). Given their cult status, we…
