Lush Christmas Preview

9

Last Thursday evening I attended the Lush Christmas Preview with my darling friend Tori from Kiss, Blush and Tell (you can read her write-up of the event here). If there is anyone who knows how to get you into the festive spirit, it’s Lush. The products were displayed beautifully and there were plenty of staff on hand to talk us through all of the latest offerings and to answer any of our questions. They were all so enthusiastic and excitable, it was impossible not to get swept up in it! There are obviously many, many incredible products available for Christmas, but instead of talking you through each one, I thought I would just tell you about my favourites (I prefer more ‘traditional’ Christmas scents, so think cinnamon-y, spicy, citrusy scents – you won’t find anything even remotely sweet in here, sorry).

Hot Toddy Shower Gel

This is number one on my lust-list – it smells so delicious, I can’t even begin to explain. If you’ve ever been in a colder climate for Christmas, then you will know exactly what I mean when I say that it smells just like a Christmas market, where the smell of glühwein and roasted chestnuts fill the air – heaven. It contains fresh ginger, cinnamon leaf oil and lemon oil, so it smells really warming, but at the same time, refreshing and rejuvenating. I popped into Lush at the V&A Waterfront on Monday evening to see if it was in stock yet, but sadly not (apparently only next week). I plan on clearing the shelves, so if you want to get in on the action, I suggest you act fast.

Celebrate Body Lotion

This has been on my list for almost an entire year! Julia bought it last year and when I smelt it on her, I went into some kind of trance – it’s that good. However, as it’s a limited edition Christmas body lotion, it was sold out by the time I went to buy it. This citrusy body lotion contains a splash of cognac (naturally, for Christmas), lime oil and brazilian orange oil – if that combination doesn’t life your spirits then I don’t know what will. It is also loaded with cocoa butter and almond oil, so it is incredibly hydrating and leaves your skin looking silky soft and glowy. This is already in-stores – I bought myself a tub on Monday and have been slathering myself with it. Delicious.

Northern Lights Bath Bomb

We were given a little show-and-tell at the event and this bath bomb is very impressive indeed. Lush describes it better than I could ever hope to: “as the ends fizz away, the middle slowly dissolves to reveal blue and neon green, turning your water into a calming jasmine and ylang ylang-scented swirling night sky scattered with stars”. It also comes in yellow, called ‘Sparkler’, which contains rose oil, Sicilian lemon oil and popping candy (FUN) so it literally fizzes, crackles and pops in your bath. These aren’t in store yet, but I plan on treating myself to both.

Golden Wonder Bath Bomb

We were each given one of these as a gift at the event, and I was particularly excited to try it because I know that this is Julia’s favourite Lush bath bomb (so I knew it was going to be a goodie). The scent of this one is similar to the Celebrate Body Lotion in that is contains an uplifting blend of sweet orange, lime and cognac oils which, as you know by now, totally floats my boat! Watching this bath bomb fizzle away in the water is pretty spectacular – even my boyfriend was impressed. The bath water turns a variety of different colours before settling into a deep, turquoise blue with fine, gold flecks everywhere – it feels like you’re bathing in gold dust. Expensive (I like it)! It also makes the water ridiculously soft so your skin feels smooth and moisturised when you get out. I will definitely be getting a few more of these for myself, and a few extra as stocking-fillers for friends and family.

I couldn’t find all of these products on the local Lush website, but I have been assured that everything will be online and in-stores very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
