Autumn Trend Tutorial with Shahnaz

A few weeks ago we attended the MAC AW14 Trend Forecast presentation with Shahnaz and were totally inspired by the variety of looks that were demonstrated. In this mini tutorial that she did on Camilla, Shahnaz combines a few of the key trends into one wearable look: fresh, highlighted skin and a hazy smokey eye. Enjoy!

Currently Loving: ‘Drugstore’ Edition

I love a high-end purchase as much as the next girl, but there is something equally satisfying about finding something cheap and cheerful from the pharmacy that actually does a brilliant job. I stalk the isles of Clicks and Dischem on the regular, and I am pleased as punch with the items I’ve picked up lately. In no particular order: Revlon Nail Enamel in ‘Revlon Red’ I spoke about this formulation in our January Favourites video – I have been using ‘Fearless’, a bright orangey-coral, all summer long and I adore it. I decided to treat myself to another bottle and…

February Favourites: Camilla

This is going to be a very MAC-heavy favourites post, so apologies in advance for the lack of diversity! Jules and I attended the MAC Trends Presentation earlier this month and after seeing the glowing, dewy skin that Michelle-Lee Collins, their senior artist, created, I knew my life wouldn’t be complete until I could create that kind of skin for myself. So I went back to MAC the very next day and Gareth (V&A Waterfront branch) gave me the most magnificent, subtle make-over I’ve ever had, and I ended up buying almost all of the products he used on me (Gareth,…

February Favourites 2015 | All Dolled Up

Essence Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil One of my makeup missions is to find a black eyeliner in pencil form that I can use for tightlining but that doesn’t transfer to the lower waterline. Potted gel liners applied with a brush work well but I find this a bit fiddly for day-to-day so I crave the convenience of a pencil alternative. I spotted this in the Allure Best of Beauty 2014 and finally tracked one down at my local Clicks. It’s not 100% budge-proof in the waterline but it’s a lot better than anything else I’ve tried and is super creamy…

The Goodie Bag You Don’t Want To Miss

Being a beauty blog, fashion doesn’t get much of a look-in over here at All Dolled Up. However, we were recently invited to the Nicci Boutiques Winter 2015 Launch and when we saw what was on offer in terms of the goodie bag, we knew we had to tell you all about it! On the 3rd of March 2015, the Hyde Park Corner (Johannesburg) store will be launching their 2015 Winter Collection, and if you spend over R950.00, you will receive the most fantastic goodie bag – seriously, it’s incredible. We were kindly sent the goodie bag ahead of time so that…

Best in Beauty: Oscars 2015

Oscars Beauty | All Dolled Up

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been excited to wake up the morning after the Oscars to see how beautiful all the actresses looked and drool over the dresses. I find the makeup and hair at the year’s biggest awards show to be equally fascinating – sometimes it’s really glamorous and over the top, and other times (like this year) it is much more elegant and subtle. To my great delight there were lots of natural features on display too – no Kim K contouring and Instagram brows here! Without further ado, here are my top…

Quick Reviews #10

Clarins Daily Energizer Cream* The Clarins Daily Energizer range is aimed at younger skin types and is designed to eliminate imperfections and promote healthy looking skin. There are two different moisturisers within the range: the Cream, for normal to dry skin and the Gel-Cream, for combination skins. Both of these moisturisers contain an innovative cocktail of four natural ingredients. The first is an energy boosting shot of Vitamin C that stimulates the skin’s natural defences and keep it looking fresh all day. The second is Turmeric or Indian saffron, a powerful antioxidant. The third ingredient is purifying Alchemilla, an astringent plant extract that…

New Makeup Storage

My Makeup Storage | All Dolled Up

If you’re an avid follower of YouTube beauty gurus like I am, then you’ve no doubt seen a few “make-up collection and storage” videos in your time. I’ve always been particularly green-eyed at the acrylic storage from Muji that features in many of them and even though I visit the UK regularly, it’s a bit too bulky to lug home in my suitcase. So the other day I popped into Pax3D in Green Point to see what they have and came home with this beauty: the nine drawer cosmetic organiser! Look, it ain’t cheap (R1250) but neither is the stuff…
