Brand I Wish Was in SA: Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory is a brand that succeeds where so many others have failed, by producing brilliant make-up and cosmetics that are just as effective as their scrumptious bodycare products. I can’t think of another brand that does this (certainly not at this price point), and definitely not with such flair – have you seen the packaging?!

They describe themselves as “a fun, fresh, fearless, fantastic British beauty brand created by suds-loving entrepreneur and celebrity facialist Marcia Kilgore.” They also recommend “applying products with happiness and abandon, because while beauty absolutely matters, it doesn’t matter absolutely.” I couldn’t agree more.

Here’s a quick rundown of all the products that I own and love (I’ve never tried anything from the line that I didn’t adore completely!):

Soap & Glory

The Fab Pore Hot Cloth Cleanser – Something like the famous Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, this cream cleanser melts away make-up and soothes the skin with panthenol, natural sweet almond, orange and lavender essential oils.

Clean on Me Shower Gel – This creamy shower gel is scented with their fresh, summery “Original Pink” fragrance; a combination of orange leaf, lemon, peach, sweet strawberries, summer rose, gardenia and jasmine. It also has a rich, luxurious lather which I love!

Sugar Crush Body Scrub – This mojito-smelling body exfoliator made it into my April Favourites because I love the brown sugar and sweet lime fragrance, and the gritty-but-not-too-rough texture of the scrub.

Soap & Glory

Hand Food – Another member of the “Original Pink” family, Hand Food is a non-greasy, hydrating hand cream that I keep next to my bed to put on at night. It sinks immediately into the skin (as all decent hand creams should) and contains shea butter, macadamia oil and marshmallow, of all things!

The Scrub of Your Life – Third in my collection of “Original Pink”-scented treats is this gently foaming exfoliator that I use to buff away keratosis pilaris (those little red chicken-skin bumps on your upper arms). It also has a very satisfying amount of scrubbiness and did I mention the smell?!

Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick – Like a cheaper dupe for the Clinique Chubby Stick (and one of the best of them, in my opinion) these fat lipstick-slash-balm crayons give great colour payoff with plenty of hydration. They’re moisturising and glossy without being sticky – two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen – This is one of those felt-tip-marker-style eyeliners that a lot of brands make, and I bought it on the recommendation of Megan from Lips So Facto who swears by it. Since I’m totally rubbish at doing cat-eyes, I just use it to line my lids and this one is great for that – quick and easy to use, and the colour doesn’t fade or dry out as you go.

I think the sheer number of products that I own is testament to how much I love this brand. Please Soap & Glory, come to South Africa – I BEG YOU!
