Brand I Wish Was in SA: Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory is a brand that succeeds where so many others have failed, by producing brilliant make-up and cosmetics that are just as effective as their scrumptious bodycare products. I can’t think of another brand that does this (certainly not at this price point), and definitely not with such flair – have you seen the packaging?! They describe themselves as “a fun, fresh, fearless, fantastic British beauty brand created by suds-loving entrepreneur and celebrity facialist Marcia Kilgore.” They also recommend “applying products with happiness and abandon, because while beauty absolutely matters, it doesn’t matter absolutely.” I couldn’t agree more.…

Brand I Wish Was in South Africa: BY TERRY

By Terry Compilation

All hail Terry de Gunzberg! Once the creative director at Yves Saint Laurent, Terry was responsible for the creation of such iconic products as the Touche Éclat and the Teint Singulier. In 2000 she ended her collaboration with YSL to focus on the development of her own make up brand: BY TERRY. Consequently, her range of foundations, tinted moisturisers, concealers, and powders are so outstanding that they have reached cult-status amongst professional make-up artists and discerning make-up lovers alike. Her approach is very simple: prime the skin, apply foundation, apply concealer and then set with powder. As someone who struggles with rosacea and acne (WHY ME?), I have been through the mill with concealers and powders and can safely say that I have yet to find a brand that does a better job than Laura Mercier. Additionally, all of her products…

Brand I Wish Was in SA: Urban Decay

My favourite Urban Decay products

Urban Decay is a brand name that I’ve started seeing popping up regularly on overseas beauty blogs. They appear to have had a makeover and are now famous for their brilliant makeup, with many products reaching cult status with fans. I bought a few things recently and had them brought back to SA for me – these are the highlights: No. 1: Eyeshadow Primer Potion – I have suffered from oily lids and eyeshadow creasing for as long as I can remember, until now. This stuff is amazing, it primes the lid, giving a smooth base for makeup application and ensures…
