Bad Beauty Habits… Confession Time!

As much as I would love to sit here and tell you that I practice what I preach, the fact is: I don’t. Whilst there are a lot of things that I am fastidious about – like moisturising my entire body (every day) and washing my make-up brushes (every week), there are some bad beauty habits that I have developed over the past couple of years that I just can’t seem to break! Here are the top 8 cardinal beauty sins that I commit on a regular basis… 1. I never wear sunscreen on my face I know, I KNOW!…

Eye Candy: TWO Magazine

Two Magazine | All Dolled Up

The Pixiwoo sisters are very busy girls. Apart from maintaining their addictive YouTube channel (which has 1.2 MILLION subscribers), they are also both working mums who manage to squeeze in running a make-up artist training course, writing a blog, flying all over the world to promote Real Techniques brushes and publishing an incredible online make-up magazine. It’s called TWO Magazine and it is packed full of delicious make-up, incredible photoshoots, interviews with the pros and exclusive videos. It is published monthly and I can honestly say it’s the one email I look forward to receiving in my inbox! Here are…

MAC’s New Online Store

MAC South Africa | All Dolled Up

If you follow us on Twitter and Instagram then you might have seen us mention the new MAC South Africa e-commerce store which went live last week. We’re both big fans of MAC but stock control has never been one of their strong points, so the fact that you can now shop online is music to our ears! It’s also so handy to be able to browse shades, formulations and prices without being bothered by a shop assistant. If you are a make-up newbie or don’t have any MAC products yet then these are the ones I would recommend checking…

Charlotte Tilbury Wish List

Happy Friday beauties! What would Friday be without a little product lust, am I right? Regular readers will be more than familiar with the deep love that Jules and I share for the fabulous Charlotte Tilbury, and when she announced the release of her eponymous make-up line, we both squealed with delight. Following on from her extremely successful Rock ‘n’ Kohl collaboration with Selfridges (which Jules wrote about here), she dazzled us with a collection so perfect, it’s hard to know where to start! Instead of taking the conventional route and releasing a generic make-up line, she took a different approach:…

Charlotte Tilbury for Dsquared2 SS14

Charlotte Tilbury for Dsquared2 Milan Fashion Week SS14

It’s safe to say that most of the make-up looks that come out of fashion week are either totally over-the-top and unwearable or so subtle and sophisticated that they would only really work for the supermodels among us. But every now and then you see something totally gorgeous and inspiring, and that’s what happened when genius make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury posted these pics on her Instagram account of the look she created for Dsquared2 at Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by 1950s Americana, Hawaiian summers and Elvis Presley, the look is total retro perfection. Skin was bronzed and glowing with arched,…

The Holiday Purchases

Aaaaand we’re back! After three glorious weeks of sun, sea and of course, a wedding, we’ve found ourselves back in a very cold and gloomy Cape Town. In order to prevent the inevitable post-holiday/post-most-amazing-wedding-of-all-time comedown, I did some shopping in Athens so I would have some things to play with when I got home. On my final day I found myself on my own as my boyfriend jetted off to Italy for a further two weeks, and with all the sights already seen, I decided to visit the biggest mall in Athens, creatively named “The Mall Athens”. I made a…

New Lipstick Love

New Lipstick Love | All Dolled Up

I finally got my braces off a couple of weeks ago and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am with my beautiful new smile! I also had them whitened so they’re basically the most perfect-looking teeth you’ve ever seen (but not in that fake, Hollywood kind of way) and I’m ready to show them off. To celebrate I bought a few new lipsticks and here they are: Maybelline ColorSensational Vivid in Vibrant Mandarin & Vivid Rose I’ve been waiting patiently for these to arrive in SA after seeing all the overseas beauty bloggers talking about them, and was thrilled…

Camilla’s Top Five Lipsticks

In my opinion, the defining moment for when a girl becomes a woman is when she chooses lipstick over gloss (you can quote me on that). Don’t get me wrong, gloss has its place, but I find lipstick much more sophisticated and ladylike, and I find the act of applying it incredibly comforting – it somehow makes me feel more prepared to face any challenges that may come my way. I’m not a huge fan of bright, bold colours as they rarely suit me, so the colours in my top 5 are more pink-toned and neutral. So without further ado,…

Summer Holiday Make-Up: What To Pack

I am taking a lot of make-up with me on this holiday, but I would like to place on record that the reason for this is because I am in charge of doing Jules’ make-up on her wedding day and I would rather be over-prepared than under-prepared. Under normal circumstances I would hardly take anything – tinted moistuirser, mascara, blush and a lipstick, max. I never wear make-up on the beach and I can’t stand traipsing around a scorching hot city with a full face on – it makes me feel claustrophobic. But, be that as it may, these are…
