If you’ve learned anything about me through this blog, it’s that I’m obsessed with The Body Shop. I’m fairly sure that I single-handedly keep the store afloat by purchasing vast numbers of body butters and multiple bottles of cleansing oil, filling my basket during every sale and raving about their skincare non-stop. It’s no secret that I swear by their body butters because they’re incredibly moisturising and smell wonderful. I’ve lost count of how many bottles of Silky Cleansing Oil I’ve gone through, and the Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask is my secret weapon for smooth, hydrated skin. To…
Essence Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil One of my makeup missions is to find a black eyeliner in pencil form that I can use for tightlining but that doesn’t transfer to the lower waterline. Potted gel liners applied with a brush work well but I find this a bit fiddly for day-to-day so I crave the convenience of a pencil alternative. I spotted this in the Allure Best of Beauty 2014 and finally tracked one down at my local Clicks. It’s not 100% budge-proof in the waterline but it’s a lot better than anything else I’ve tried and is super creamy…
I was lucky enough to spend three days in the Karoo last week and, although it is the most beautiful, peaceful place in the world, it is also incredibly dry. By the time I got home on Sunday night, I felt as though every drop of moisture had been zapped from my body, so I went into damage control mode and whipped out every hydrating product in my arsenal. Here’s what I did to restore the balance: Face Jules and I recently received a few GLAMGLOW face masks from the lovely people at Metropolitan Cosmetics. Being a dry skinned gal, my eye was…
I posted this picture on Instagram last week and it prompted quite a few questions from followers, so I thought I would elaborate. My skin is combination-oily but suffers from some dehydration when I don’t look after it (read this to find out the difference between dry and dehydrated skin). This results in a general dullness and flaky patches around my chin that feel tight and uncomfortable. It took me a while to figure out that dehydration was the cause but now that I’m treating it directly, my skin is much better. Here are my hydration hero products:
When it comes to my beauty routine, I generally have a short attention span; I tend to try out lots of different products and my top shelf is on continuous rotation. There are, however, a few things that I do on a more regular basis than contribute to the maintenance of my nails, skin and hair. Here’s the list: At-home manicure I recently did a post on my DIY manicure essentials so you’re probably familiar with the tools I use to keep my nails in good nick. I go through this routine about once a week, usually at my desk…
I’m jetting off to London tonight and while I was packing my in-flight skincare kit, it got me thinking about all my favourite overnight hydrating masks. It’s the one product that I won’t go on a long-haul flight without so I’ve tried quite a few. Here’s my pick of the top five locally available moisturising masks, and although they aren’t all billed as for use overnight specifically, you could safely leave them on until morning for an extra boost of hydration: Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (R395 for 100ml) – A creamy, oil-free night mask that helps skin replenish lost…
