Foreo LUNA Mini Review // Clarisonic Comparison

A few months ago we were sent a Foreo LUNA Mini (“Luna”) to test, but we didn’t want to review it until it was available for purchase in South Africa (which has only happened recently). The Luna is a facial cleansing device which uses transdermal sonic pulsations to provide an extremely deep, but gentle, clean. The pulsations rid the pores of impurities, which in turn reduce the likelihood of any blemishes coming to the surface of the skin. The pulsations also help refine the texture of your skin, leaving it softer and smoother. The Luna is made up of 1,300 touch-points,…

Review: GLAMGLOW Face Masks

A few months ago the lovely people at Metropolitan Cosmetics sent Jules and I a few GLAMGLOW face masks to try. For those of you not already familiar for GLAMGLOW, it was founded in 2010 for backstage and professional use in Hollywood’s entertainment industry. The masks were made available for retail a year later and proceeded to take the world by storm, picking up awards left, right and centre. The masks are loved the world over due to their ability to help the skin appear instantly camera-ready, refine pores, diminish visible imperfections, and produce a noticeable glow (hence the name). Given their cult status, we…

Beauty Battle: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant vs Indeed Labs Facial Powdered Exfoliator

Beauty Battle: Powdered Exfoliators

By know I’m sure you will know that I’m a huge fan of the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant for its instant smoothing properties, but the R850 price tag really, really hurts. Until recently, there hasn’t been an alternative on the market, let alone an affordable one, so I just forked out the cash with my eyes closed. Then Indeed Labs (makers of Hydraluron, among others) launched this, their Facial Powdered Exfoliator and I knew I had to give it a try. Here’s the lowdown: Points of similarity Both are water-activated micro-powders Both are gentle enough to use every day (although I…

Review: REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial

REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial

We love a good face mask over at All Dolled Up, so when this landed on my desk I had to resist the urge to go home immediately so I could try it. It’s no secret that REN’s Glycolcatic Radiance Renewal Mask will go down in history as one of both mine and Jules’ all-time favourite face masks, so I knew this latest offering from REN wouldn’t disappoint. Let me talk you through what it does and how it works. This mask promises to transform your complexion in 60 seconds – which a definite upside for us time-pressed gals, especially…

April Favourites: Jules

April Favourites | All Dolled Up

Smashbox Liquid Halo Foundation* We were given a bottle of this foundation at a Smashbox event last year but the colour has been a little bit light for me until now. It is absolutely brilliant – the oil-free formula creates a very light, natural, skin-like finish and is radiant without being too glowy. It made its way into Camilla’s Favourites back in January and I’m very happy to have joined the club. If you’re looking for something luminous, with medium coverage that is weightless on the skin, then look no further. Available at selected Woolworths stores and online for R370. Kérastase…

DIY Tea Tree Toner

DIY Tea Tree Toner | All Dolled Up

In my recent Morning Skincare Routine video, I mentioned that I use Lush’s Tea Tree Water before moisturising to make sure my skin is extra clean for the day ahead. The main ingredient is of course, tea tree oil, which is famous for its antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial properties which help to neutralise the bacteria that can cause spots. Tea tree oil has a long history of medicinal use. The practice of applying tea tree oil comes from Australia, where Aborigines have been using it as an antiseptic to treat cuts and burns for thousands of years.

Review: REN Skincare Rose O¹² Moisture Defence Oil, Ultra Moisture Day Cream and Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil

A few months ago I discovered two fantastic moisturisers (namely the Vita Mineral Radiant Day Cream and Frankincense Revitalising Repair Cream) from REN and quite rightly sang their praises. The lovely ladies at Alchemy Business Development took notice and offered to send me some products to try which might be a better fit for my skin type (dry, dry, dry). A few days later a package arrived and inside it I discovered, to my delight, the Rose O¹² Moisture Defence Oil, Ultra Moisture Day Cream and the iconic Moroccan Rose Otto Ultra-Moisture Body Oil. I couldn’t wait to  get home so…

Guest Review: Dermapen Face Needling

Last week my friend Justine sent me this message: “One word my friend: Dermapen”. I hadn’t the faintest idea what Dermapen was or how it worked, so I sent her a barrage of messages filled with questions. After getting the scoop on the miracle worker that is Dermapen, I asked Justine if she would be willing to write a guest post and she gladly obliged. She was even happy to send us some before and after pictures – what a champ! Take it away, Justine…

Skincare Revelation: Giving Up Dairy

As regular readers will know, my skin is rather temperamental – I suffer from redness, blemishes, flushing, rosacea…you name it, it’s on my face. In order to curb these afflictions, I have been taking an antibiotic called Tetralysal (a tetracycline) off and on (mainly on) for approximately ten years. Tetracycline treats bacterial infections and suppresses inflammation, and I took it happily and without question whenever I had a flare-up – I think I even took it continuously for 6 months once (!!). When I take it my skin looks magnificent – no sign of redness, not a hint of a…
