Green Beauty: Plant a tree with rubybox

rubybox and greenpop

It’s not always easy to be environmentally friendly, and beauty is a big culprit – who knows how many cotton pads, tissues and earbuds I’ve thrown away over the years, nevermind all that water down the drain from obsessively washing my face and my hair. Natural and organic products are becoming more common as brands evolve to meet the needs of a more conscientious consumer. It’s easier than ever to treat the planet with the same love and care that you treat your skin, and this month rubybox are taking it one step further. For every R600 (or more) spent…

Bad Beauty Habits… Confession Time!

As much as I would love to sit here and tell you that I practice what I preach, the fact is: I don’t. Whilst there are a lot of things that I am fastidious about – like moisturising my entire body (every day) and washing my make-up brushes (every week), there are some bad beauty habits that I have developed over the past couple of years that I just can’t seem to break! Here are the top 8 cardinal beauty sins that I commit on a regular basis… 1. I never wear sunscreen on my face I know, I KNOW!…

GIVEAWAY: Nuxe Luxury Hamper {CLOSED}

Nuxe Giveaway | All Dolled Up

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while then you know about Camilla and my obsession with Nuxe. Ever since purchasing their hero product, the Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, from Style36 at the beginning of this year, we have been hooked on this naturally-derived French beauty brand. Our combined collection includes the incredible Rêve de Miel lip balm, the Rêve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream and the Anti-Age Try Me Kit. The lovely people over at Nuxe South Africa (visit their Facebook page here) took notice of our infatuation with their brand and kindly send us a few…

Mask Dream Team: Origins Clear Improvement Mask and REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask

I’ll be the first to admit that I have never been particularly enamoured with at-home face masks, mainly because they never delivered the desired results (well, not for me, anyway). However, that all changed when Jules introduced me to the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, which I raved about here. It managed to obliterate my dry patches after just one use, and my skin was left clear and glowing afterwards – I was officially converted.  Fast forward to the night before Jules’ wedding in Greece, and she whipped out the Origins Clear Improvements Active Charcoal Mask for the bridesmaids…

Korres Haul

One of the highlights for any beauty buff visiting Greece is getting your hands on some treats from Korres, an amazing, natural skin, hair and make-up brand. Born out of Greece’s first homeopathic pharmacy, all the formulations are developed based on natural ingredients like aloe, calendula and Evening Primrose (it’s actually quite fascinating – read this). I was very excited to spot a small stand-alone store in Athens airport while waiting for a flight so I attacked it with my credit card and here’s what I bought:

NEW: Nip + Fab

Nip + Fab South Africa | All Dolled Up

Clicks certainly seem to be on fire at the moment, having recently brought gems like our much-loved Indeed Labs’ Hydraluron into the country. Latest on the list of hot new products is the range from Nip + Fab, created by the founder of celeb cult brand Rodial, Maria Hatzistefanis. I had seen the brand in Boots on various trips to the UK but didn’t know much about it, so I did a little research and discovered that they produce a highly respected skincare line. I popped into the branch at the V&A Waterfront and found all the Nip + Fab products…

The Holiday Purchases

Aaaaand we’re back! After three glorious weeks of sun, sea and of course, a wedding, we’ve found ourselves back in a very cold and gloomy Cape Town. In order to prevent the inevitable post-holiday/post-most-amazing-wedding-of-all-time comedown, I did some shopping in Athens so I would have some things to play with when I got home. On my final day I found myself on my own as my boyfriend jetted off to Italy for a further two weeks, and with all the sights already seen, I decided to visit the biggest mall in Athens, creatively named “The Mall Athens”. I made a…

Review: Lush Mask of Magnaminty

Lush Mask of Magnaminty | All Dolled Up

Let it be said that I spend an enormous amount of money at Lush. And I am not ashamed – I have loved every single product that I’ve bought with the exception of one (Big Solid Conditioner), and let me tell you, I’ve bought a lot. Many of my buys are re-purchases (I Love Juicy, Seanik & Big shampoos, Veganese conditioner, Avobath and Twilight bath bombs, to name a few…) but most are new products that I haven’t tried before. Enter the Mask of Magnaminty: This deep cleansing face mask contains China clay and fresh peppermint that draw the debris…

August Favourites: Camilla

Bumble and bumble Thickening Full Form Mousse and Thickening Creme Contour The only, I repeat only, benefit of having a boyfriend who travels is access to much hyped-about overseas beauty products. These arrived at the end of July and I can confirm that they are both exceptionally good. Historically I have avoided mousses for fear of them leaving my hair sticky and crunchy – not so with this mousse though. It thickens the hair without leaving it tacky, even when applied to the roots, and the hair stays pumped up and volumised all day. I can’t say enough good things about…
