Monthly Favourites aside, these are the five products I find myself reaching for morning after morning. One old favourite and four new ones – all of which have me completely smitten.

My foundation/bb cream/tinted moisturiser collection is currently at fourteen. FOURTEEN. I made a promise to myself that I would use a different one every day in an effort to try and get through them all, but despite my best efforts I seem to find myself using the same one every day – the Dior Diorskin Nude BB Creme. I’ve sung it’s praises before so I won’t repeat myself, but I am definitely going to be repurchasing this when I finish it. Great coverage with a dewy, healthy finish – basically…this is ‘The One’.

I recently got my hands on the NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base and I’m loving it. It’s not massively dissimilar from the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, but I do find that it has a little bit more slip so you have a bit more blending time. Shadows stay put for hours with no creasing – peachy. I also use it on my brows to keep my eyebrow pencil in place all day long.

Although Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara will always be my number one, I wanted to try and find something a bit more affordable for everyday wear. I have always been a huge fan of Max Factor mascaras, so when I stumbled upon this gloriously fat bottle promising volume and length, I was sold. False Lash Effect Fusion adds volume at the roots and length at the ends, and it doesn’t clump, flake or smudge.

When Jules and I recently attended the MAC Divine Night Preview Evening, I picked up a set of four gorgeous lipglosses. My favourite out of the bunch has to be the Creemsheen Glass in ‘On the Scene’ – a pale, peachy-pink with a cream finish. I like to pop this on top of some lip balm and it leaves my lips looking really pretty and glossy (in a non-Kardashian way).

Another gem from MAC: Fix+ Spray. This facial spray can be used before or after make-up, or spritzed on throughout the day as a little pick-me-up. It’s infused with minerals, green tea, chamomile and cucumber which work together to calm and soothe the skin. I use it after I’ve applied my make-up to set everything in place and to add a nice boost of radiance to the skin. I find that my foundation looks fresh all day long, which is invaluable if, like me, you work in an office all day long and usually look like the crypt-keeper by 3pm!

Hey Gals, ok so I need your help. I have my mom’s wedding this weekend and she wants me to do her make-up for her. So I’ve been doing a bit of research online but wondered if you had any suggestions. She’s a complete shocker when it comes to make-up and really doesn’t wear a lot let alone take the time to apply it well. Thus I have a few ideas but was wondering if you gals could help with some suggestions. My mm is 60, has brown hair and green eyes so I was thinking of using perhaps some berry tones in her eye shadow and lips, but nothing too harsh, no blacks, rather charcoal and brown eye shades to enhance the eye area. Where i think I might need your guidance is on primers and foundation and I think she needs a good foundation with concealer and brightner to get her skin tone a bit more even, She is fair skinned but definitely not as pale as me. I obviously want her make to make a difference but without making her look over done.

    Thanks Gals,

    Hi there!

I have been itching to try NARS products. Where do you buy yours? I can’t seem to find a supplier that ships to South Africa.

    Nina xx

Hi Nina. We get our NARS fix from friends and family who bring products back for us from the US/UK – at the moment you can’t get it shipped here unfortunately. We are holding thumbs that one day we will be able to! xx
