I finally got my braces off a couple of weeks ago and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am with my beautiful new smile! I also had them whitened so they’re basically the most perfect-looking teeth you’ve ever seen (but not in that fake, Hollywood kind of way) and I’m ready to show them off. To celebrate I bought a few new lipsticks and here they are:
Maybelline ColorSensational Vivid in Vibrant Mandarin & Vivid Rose
I’ve been waiting patiently for these to arrive in SA after seeing all the overseas beauty bloggers talking about them, and was thrilled when I noticed that they had slipped quietly onto the shelves at Clicks. The creamy, heavily pigmented formula is opaque in one swipe and the colours are simply spectacular. I chose Vivid Rose (a bold, medium-dark pink with rosy red undertones) and Vibrant Mandarin (a bold, medium-dark orange with strong red undertones) and next on my list is the Shocking Coral. I haven’t used them yet but Temptalia gives them an A so I know they’ll be good.
Maybelline SuperStay 14 Hour Lipstick in Stay With Me Coral
Honestly, Lisa Eldridge could sell me a garbage bag and I’d wear it on my head without question. So when she mentioned this lipstick in her recent sweat-proof make-up tutorial video, I obviously rushed out and bought it. The colour is very “me” and although I’m sure the formula is a bit drying (aren’t all long-lasting lipsticks though?) I don’t see how that couldn’t be resolved with a bit of lip balm. I’m not particularly interested in Maybelline’s claim of 14 hours of staying power (reapplying lipstick is a pleasure for me, not a chore) but it might make life a bit easier in summer when more moisturising lip products can literally melt off your face within minutes.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 54 Boy
I’ve had a crush on this lipstick for a long time (you’ll probably recognise it as one of Camilla’s favourites) but could never bring myself to spend the money on it. Then Camilla did my make-up trial and we realised that it was just the right bridal colour for me and I decided to invest. I’ve worn it a few times since and I completely buy into the hype – the formula is perfectly smooth and creamy, the shade is delicious and it goes with absolutely anything. It ain’t cheap but I think every girl should have a couple of designer lipsticks in her collection. There are very few things that make you feel quite as fancy as whipping a Chanel lipstick and compact mirror out of your handbag!
Dior Addict Lipstick in 431 On The Beach
This one was an extremely thoughtful gift from two dear friends at my hen party (do they know me or what?!). Dior Addict Extreme lipstick in Lucky is in my top five favourite lipsticks EVER so I’m really looking forward to trying this version. The shade is a creamy, summery peach colour from their recent Birds of Paradise Collection and the iridescent packaging is simply exquisite. I am saving this one for Greece where I will quite literally wear it “on the beach”!
P.S. Are you guys keen to see before and afters of my teeth and/or learn more about adult orthodontics? Let me know and I’ll blog about it.
