Beauty Gifting Ideas

October is a big birthday month for me – between best friends and family members, there are many, many presents which need to be bought. It will come as no surprise that beauty products are the gifts I tend to give most often – they’re generally the items people can’t justify buying for themselves, which make them all the more special to receive! I thought it might be helpful to give you a quick run-down of some of my favourite gifting items in case you’ve got a big birthday month coming up too (or, you know, Christmas): Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream…

Ask the Expert: Differences between Botox and Fillers

We’ve had a lot of questions regarding the differences between botox and fillers recently, it seems to be somewhat of a hot topic. I (Camilla) have been getting Botox every 3-6 months for the past 5 years, and I swear by it. Although I haven’t had dermal fillers, I am open to the idea if/when I feel I need them. I see Dr Alek Nikolic, and have done since day one – my fabulous godmother referred me to him and I’ve never looked back. He has always taken a very measured approach with me, and I trust him implicitly. He is soft-spoken,…

Introducing La Roche-Posay

Jules and I have mentioned La Roche-Posay a few times before on All Dolled Up, but now that the brand is finally available in South Africa, I thought it was time for a more formal introduction. This French dermatology skin care brand was founded in 1975, and its main focus has always been to create an effective skin care line for sensitive skins. Every product contains thermal water from the natural springs of La Roche-Posay, which contains high levels of elenium – a mineral proven to protect cellular metabolism with its powerful antioxidant properties. All ingredients are strictly selected to be…

Camilla’s September Favourites

NYX Micro Brow Pencil in ‘Ash Brown/Medium Beige’ + Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in ‘Brownie Brows’ This drugstore combo has really been floating my boat this month. The NYX pencil is the perfect shade for my brows (the shade ‘Brunette’ is a touch too warm), and the nib is nice and small, so it makes easy work of drawing a precise, sculpted brow. I then go in with the Essence eyebrow gel mascara to add some oomph and secure the hairs in place – the fibers really bulk up the appearance of my brows, which I love.…

Shopping The Stash

Given the abundance of makeup that I own, you’d think it would be almost impossible for me to fall into a product rut, wouldn’t you? Well, it ain’t so! Lately I have found myself reaching for the same products every morning, so I decided to shop my stash in an effort to switch things up and get through all the makeup. I had a good rummage around my collection and discovered some forgotten gems, and here they are… Stila Colour Correcting Cream in ‘Light’ Disclaimer: This has been discontinued. I know, I know, I shouldn’t even be writing about it, but…

Cult Beauty Wishlist

Cult Beauty is hands-down my favourite online beauty retailer – I often spend hours browsing the site, wishing I was a millionaire/still based in London so that I could get my hands on their expertly curated products. These are some of the items currently on my wishlist… iBeauty Skin Brush 21 I am most intrigued by this new style of brush that seems to be taking the makeup world by storm, aren’t you? I never thought I would find myself coveting something which looks like a ginormous toothbrush, but it turns out that I do! These densely packed synthetic fiber bristles promise to buff…

New In // Skincare

Environ Ionzyme C-Quence Eye Gel  I recently finished my Environ Firming Eye Gel, and whilst I liked it, it didn’t particularly blow me away, so I decided to give the C-Quence version a try. It contains a cocktail of vitamins, anti-oxidants and peptides to improve the appearance of fine lines (that’d be me, then), and to provide a daily defence against aging by keeping the under-eye area hydrated and cared for. I have been using it every morning and I officially cannot be without it now. It sinks in quickly, but still leaves the skin feeling hydrated and silky all day…

Almay Age Essentials Makeup SPF 15 in ‘140 Light/Medium Warm’ This latest foundation from Almay contains a built-in moisturiser, as well a combination of collagen, hyaluronic acid and peptides. The purpose of adding these skincare ingredients is to provide a solution for busy women who are looking to maximise what their foundation can do for them ie offer skincare benefits at the same time. The combination of ingredients contained in this foundation promises to smooth the skin, relax expression lines, boost hydration and restore the skin’s luminosity. This reminds me a lot of the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation, a…
