Dior Addict Extreme in 536 Lucky
Hands down, my favourite bright lipstick of all time in my favourite formula of all time. Dior just nail it with lipstick and although frighteningly expensive, they bring me so much joy that I don’t even mind eating baked beans for a few weeks after buying one. The beauty of this is that it’s extremely buildable, so you can wear it as a sheer wash of berry-coral or build it up for a full whack of glossy, glorious colour. The colour is extremely flattering (and I think would suit a lot of skin tones), it wears beautifully and it’s breeze to apply. The love is thick.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Love
By now you’ll know that Camilla and I both use the “Seduction” shade from this line regularly, and agree that it’s one of the finest affordable liquid lipstick formulas on the market. Synthetic sickly sweet scent aside, the formula is creamy but matte and non-drying, making it far more comfortable than most liquid lipsticks. This vibrant red with a touch of orange is extremely cheerful and is one of those colours that feels like a bright accessory when worn with a simple outfit like blue jeans and a white tee. Its fuschia-toned sister Obsession is equally bright and fun and a good option if you prefer cool-toned pinks.
Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Thrill Seeker
Another fabulous liquid lipstick formula for real people (not just Instagram stars) is this one from Smashbox. Densley pigmented, it glides on very smoothly giving you fully opaque coverage from the first swipe and leaves lip looking velvety rather than bone dry. I haven’t tested these for a full day of wear but I hear that they are extremely long-lasting and certainly pass the test when worn to an event for a few hours. Thrill Seeker is a punchy orange-red that screams cocktails by the pool and sweaty nights on the dancefloor but if you’re looking for more of a true red, Bang Bang (a bright yellow-red) is just as gorgeous.
Tom Ford Lip Color in True Coral
You know the “YouTube Made Me Buy It” tag? Well, this one is all on Sam Chapman from Pixiwoo. She did a video aaaaages ago (literally 5 years ago) with her favourite coral lipsticks and when she put this one on, I absolutely swooned. Of course, it looks a million times better on her colouring than on mine – also, she’s just such a mega babe – but I still like to crack it out every now and then when I want to feel fancy. The tone is a bright, warm pinky-orange that leans more orange on me but more pink on Sam. The finish is very opaque, smooth and creamy. Delicious.
Colourpop Matte X Lippie Stix in Poppin’
I’m sad to say that I use very few of my Colourpop products these days. I don’t know what it is because I do love most of the things I bought but for some reason I never reach for them. Anyway – this rich, velvety fuschia from their Matte X range gives me major heart-eye-emojis and I am going to try to wear it more this summer. I love blue-toned purply-pinks like this because they tend to suit my skin tone and make my teeth look sparkling white – I probably have 20 different variations on this theme in my lipstick drawer included favourites like Urban Decay Jilted and Tom Ford Logan but none of them is matte. I love glossy lipsticks but sometimes in summer I want something to act as a foil against glowy skin and matte lippies are ideal for that. This one is super rich and pigmented and really brightens up the complexion and I can’t for the life of me think why I don’t wear it more often *sticks in handbag*
What are your favourite bright summer lipsticks?
