Quick Reviews #28 // New In From Elizabeth Arden

FourEver Bronze Bronzing Powder in ‘Medium’

I have been using this non-stop since we received it a few weeks ago, and I absolutely adore it. It creates a healthy, bronzed glow with a lovely, luminous finish that makes you look like you’ve just been on holiday. I swirl my brush around all four shades and the combined colour is perfect for my skin tone, but you can use obviously the shades separately if you wish (which makes it very handy for travelling as you don’t need to schlep a load of different products around with you.) It takes a lot to drag me away from my Charlotte Tilbury bronzer, but I haven’t used it once since receiving this bronzer. Let that be a testament to how amazing it is.

Lasting Impression Mascara

Let’s get it out of the way, shall we? Is it as good/better than Grand Entrance? No. Is it a good mascara nevertheless? Yes.

It does lengthen, separate and volumise, but my issue with it is that it tends to clump quite quickly (second coat can be touch-and-go if you’re not careful). If you’re patient and take your time working the mascara through the lashes, you can create a lovely, full lashline. But if you (me) rush it, it can end up looking a little bit spidery. Horses for courses though, I suppose – it depends entirely on the look you want to create. I also find it transfers on me if I don’t set my browbone with a powder.

PREVAGE City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask

Elizabeth Arden claims that this mask “acts like a liquid magnet to lift and remove impurities instantly while resurfacing skin and enhancing its natural detoxification system. Peel to reveal a brighter, smoother, virtually poreless-looking complexion.” It contains antioxidants, a smart polymer and a botanical blend to remove surface toxins and perfect the complexion, and helps detoxify the skin using a gentle exfoliating action.

You guys, what fun! I haven’t derived this much enjoyment from a face mask in as long as I can remember. You apply a generous layer of the gel all over your face, wait 20 minutes for it to dry, and then peel it off in one movement – it’s so satisfying, like a sheet mask but in reverse! I could definitely see evidence of dirt and dead skin cells after I removed the mask – you can see it all sat there, lodged into the gel.  To think that only moments prior, all of that had been in my pores: disgusting/amazing.

I must admit, because I take good care of my skin and have monthly facials, I never expected to see great results with this. I naively thought “there won’t be much build-up on my skin”…well, I was wrong. I’m am still quite shocked to see how much gunk is lifted out of my pores each time I use this, which just goes to show how much pollution I am actually exposing myself to (staggering, considering I am in an office every day).

Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Eye Serum

You will no doubt be familiar with the cult classic Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum, which are designed to be used on the face, neck and décolletage. Elizabeth Arden have now released a version specifically targeted for the eye area which contain ingredients to fortify the skin in the eye area to help fight fine lines and crow’s feet and give your eyes a younger, smoother, brighter look. It claims to:

  • Helps strengthen skin’s resistance against the appearance of fine lines and crow’s feet.
  • Visibly lifts and contours the look of skin in the eye area.
  • Supports natural collagen to give skin a firmer, less lined appearance.
  • Natural skin soothers help calm skin and relieve puffiness.
  • Smoothes your skin for a noticeably softer look.

One capsule is definitely enough for two applications, I’ve found – I will open one in the evening and then use what is left the following morning. The texture is lightweight, silky and absorbs into the skin fairly quickly, and it definitely leaves the skin looking nice and juicy. I wouldn’t apply makeup straight away, but once the oil has had time to sink in, concealer applies like a dream.
