The Empties

Empties

It’s not often that I finish a product – I usually lose interest half way through and then either leave it lingering on my bathroom shelf, or pawn it off onto one of my friends (thank goodness for Jules and Jes). However, in a rare turn of events, I have managed to finish not one, but EIGHT products simultaneously! Here’s the run down of ‘The Empties’…

L’Oreal Pureology Hydrate Shampoo & Conditioner

I absolutely love this range – it leaves my hair looking impossibly shiny and healthy (which is probably due to the fact that it is 100% vegan and contains no sulphate) and it is packed with plant extracts of jojoba, green tea and sage so it smells absolutely heavenly. The shampoo is a little bit rich for me so I don’t use it every time I wash my hair, I like to alternate it with a clarifying shampoo to cut through all the grease/dry shampoo/hair spray. The conditioner, however, is perfection – hands down the best I’ve ever used. I love it so much that I am willing to put on record that I cannot see myself ever straying from this brand, (and I am a fickle creature, so you must appreciate how big this is for me) as I just can’t see how any other shampoo/condition could do a better job.

Repurchase? Yes. Absolutely yes. Forever.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

My love for this product has been well documented on this blog, so you will know by now that it is the one product I cannot, and will not, live without. It keeps eyeshadow in place until you decide to take it off – which is a game-changer for those of use with oilier eyelids. It took me a year an a half to finish my little tube, and I used it every day, sometimes twice a day. Excellent quality and value for money – I cannot recommend it highly enough. Another bonus: it’s now available on Rubybox! Go, go, go!

L’Oreal Mythic Oil

I got this in my very first Rubybox absolute yonks ago, and I have been using it religiously ever since. It has taken me ages to finish it, so you really are getting a lot of bang for your buck. It smells incredible and leaves your hair silky soft and super-shiny – what more could you ask for? I prefer it to Moroccan Oil because it’s much lighter and smells less smoky, yet it still does a sterling job of keeping your tresses looking their best.

Mama Mio OMega Body Oil

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this is the best body product I have ever had the pleasure of using. I have recommended it to everyone I know, bought it for numerous people as presents, and I’ve repurchased it again for myself too. It’s packed full of natural oils and vitamin E so it’s SUPER hydrating – the perfect anecdote for dry, winter skin. You only need a small amount and it sinks into the skin quickly, leaving you with the most beautiful, soft sheen – your skin literally glows. It’s designed to be applied to damp, not dry, skin – so gently pat yourself down after your shower and get busy.

Repurchase? A thousand times, yes. I will be inconsolable if this product is ever discontinued.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Gel Serum Foundation

Regular readers are probably sick to death of reading about Jules and I harping on about this product, but it just really is that good! I have repurchased this twice already – that’s how highly I rate it. Natural, radiant finish? Check. Buildable coverage? Check. Long lasting? Check. Affordable? Check.

LUSH Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub

I was given this as a gift a few months ago and I have enjoyed using it. If you prefer a more gentle scrub, you can use it under running water and it will leave your skin coated in a lovely light layer of moisture. If you’re like me and prefer a more full-on exfoliation, apply it to dry skin and massage it in before you get into the shower – it does a brilliant job of getting rid of dry, flaky skin. Smells good, too.

Repurchase: No. Only because I find it difficult to justify spending money on scrubs (you can just as easily use sugar or sea salt), and as a general rule I prefer to spend money on products that are actually going to stay on my skin and not get washed away after a couple of seconds. A lovely gift, but not something I would buy for myself.

Narciso Rodriguez ‘For Her’ Body Lotion

I have been using Narciso Rodriguez ‘For Her’ perfume for years and I am still hypnotised by the scent – I asbolutely adore it. Last year I was browsing around in the duty free in Istanbul airport and I saw a set containing the perfume and matching body lotion…well, colour me happy! Now, I can’t say that this partcular body lotion is any more or less effective than other body lotions, but it smells so delicious that I just don’t care. When layered underneath the perfume, it really packs a punch – I always get compliments when I wear them together.
