America Haul Part One: The Make-Up

I’m back, beauties! And whilst I thought I’d done a lot of shopping, when I unpacked everything to blog about it, it turns out I didn’t do nearly as much as I thought I did. Which begs the question…where did all my money go?! I have split my America haul into two parts: make-up first, and everything else second, and what I thought I would do is give you a rundown of everything I bought, together with a brief “first impressions”-type review on all of them. Let’s get started, shall we?

Travel Beauty: Essential Make-up Kit

By the time you read this, I will freezing my perfectly pedicured toes off in London while scouring the high street for beauty bargains. I thought you might like to see what make-up I’m taking with me that pretty much comprises all my favourite and most-used products at the moment. I plan to buy more stuff than I can carry when I’m there so I’ve probably packed far more than I really need but at least I know I have all my essentials in case of any beauty emergencies! February Favourites

Sorry this is so late guys! We shot it at the end of February but then had problems getting it up on YouTube. Here are our February Favourites nonetheless. Camilla’s Favourites: Eucerin Hyaluronic Filler My skin has been so parched lately – I felt like no matter how much water I drank or how much moisturiser I put on, my skin was still dry and flaky. I had been dabbling with the idea of hyaluronic acid for a while, so this product couldn’t have been recommended to me at a better time. In short, I love it – for the…

You might be inclined to say “What a waste of time”, but if you saw the state of my natural hair you’d quickly change your tune – I assure you, it has been time well spent! Greasy roots, dry, split ends, poodle curls underneath and a gentle wave on top…why me?! I have spent countless hours and untold amounts…

Face of the Day: Mad Men

Face of the Day

I was feeling inspired by the Estee Lauder Mad Men Collection, so I decided to do a Sixties-esque look today: gentle kitten flick eyeliner and a soft red lip. THE FACE I wanted to look expensive, so I decided to use my By Terry Sheer Expert Foundation (separate post about this product coming soon). This foundation looks and smells so gorgeous, and it leaves my skin looking soft and dewy. Next up, under-eye concealing: for this I used my trusty Clinique Airbrush Concealer. I then powdered my t-zone with MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder. Popped a bit of…

An ad for Ultra Lash (later renamed Great Lash) - the world's first "automatic" mascara

I’m sure you know the famous story of how modern mascara was invented? If you don’t, it goes like this: Back in 1915, there was a young chemist living in New York named Tom Lyle Williams, who’s sister Mabel had recently singed off her lashes and eyebrows in a small kitchen fire. He noticed her applying a mixture of Vaseline and coal dust to her eyelashes to give them a darker, fuller look and the idea was born. Two years later, after establishing a company called “Maybelline” (Mabel + Vaseline), he launched Cake Mascara, and later, the first “automatic” mascara which reloaded…
