What’s the big deal with Hydroxy Acids?

The past few years have seen quite a turnaround when it comes to facial exfoliation, as physical scrubs have completely fallen out of favour and been replaced by exfoliating acids. Physical scrubs are not only far too rough, leaving behind “microtears” in the skin’s surface, but the tiny plastic beads used in some products are very environmentally damaging as they wash into the sea and don’t dissolve. I have been trying a number of different products recently and I feel like I’m onto a good thing with my current routine, so I thought I’d share it with you. To recap, my skin is incredibly dry, and I suffer with rosacea (which I keep under control with antibiotics) and blemishes. Lately I have also been experiencing congestion on my cheeks which I think is largely down to exercising with make-up on (naughty) – I am trying to remember to take my foundation off now before I hit the gym.
