Last week I attended the Cosmetiques de France press day to learn about all the upcoming launches from Max Factor, Bourjois, Bioderma and Noreva. There are going to be a lot of exciting new products hitting the shelves over the next couple of months, and I even though some aren’t going to be available for a while, I wanted to tell you about them anyway. I have decided to split the launches into two posts (Max Factor and Bourjois first, Bioderma and Noreva second) and I’m (rather selfishly) only going to tell you about the launches that I found most exciting.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Aqua Laque Lipstick
These ‘wet look shine’ liquid lipsticks contain a high concentration of water to keep the lips moisturised and also to create a light and refreshing texture.
Bourjois have eliminated the presence of oil from the formulation (as much as possible) so as to extend the wear time of the product – once you apply it, it shouldn’t budge. Be sure not to apply a nourishing or moisturising balm beforehand – your lips just be free of any residue in order to allow this product to work its magic.
Retails for R139.95 and will be available from selected Clicks stores from Mid-July.
Bourjois Volume Glamour Effect Push Up Mascara – Waterproof and Ultra Black Editions
At the event, the first thing I noticed were Ilze’s (the press contact) lashes – they were so long, separated and thick that it looked like she was wearing falsies. But no, she was wearing the new Volume Glamour Volume Mascara! The brush is designed to create extreme length and thickness – the diameter has been specifically calculated for quick and easy application, and is equipped with 15 ‘reservoirs’, distributed between the bristles to make sure that every part of the lash is properly coated.
The formulation thickens and curls the lashes in a single stroke, and it’s buildable texture allows flexibility for adding layers without drying out or hardening.
Retails for R134.95 and is available from selected Clicks stores from mid-October.
Bourjois La Laque Nail Enamel
If you follow Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup, you will have seen her mention these in a recent blog post.
The formula contains pure, saturated pigments for opaque coverage and intense shine from the first coat. The innovative new brush design means that with each stroke, just the right amount of product is deposited onto the nail to ensure completely streak-free application.
Retails for R104.95 and will be available from selected Clicks stores from Mid-July.
Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon
These don’t necessarily fall under the ‘exciting’ category – lip crayons have been around for years – but I am still really looking forward to testing them when they come out. The formulation is described as ‘melting’ so it really sinks into the lips and leaves a ‘radiant veil’ of colour. The texture is light and non-sticky, and feels comfortable and hydrating – when I swatched these I was really impressed!
Retails for R119.95 and will be available from selected Clicks stores from mid-October.
Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows
This is probably the product I am most excited about. If you watched our ‘January Favourites’ video earlier this year, you might remember that Jules featured these as one of her favourites.
These cream eye shadows are gel based and have an intense, shimmery (as the name would suggest) finish. I am particularly looking forward to trying the colours ‘Copper’ and ‘Bronze’ (top left and top middle). I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to have ‘drug store’ cream eye shadow option besides the Maybelline Eye Studio Colour Tattoos (still have no idea why South Africa only gets the dodgy colours).
Retails for R129.95 and have apparently been available from selected Clicks stores since mid-March (although I haven’t seen them yet…).
Max Factor Masterpiece Glamour Extensions 3-in-1 Mascara
Max Factor can do no wrong when it comes to mascara – False Lash Effect and Masterpiece Max are two of my all-time favourites. This new release has a small brush with short bristles so you can get deep into the roots of the lashes to create volume, and then sculpt the lashes as you sweep the wand upwards. It also contains black carbon fibres to bulk up the lashes and extend the length, and apparently the formulation sets a curl incredibly well. So if you want long, thick, curled lashes, look no further!
Retails for R109.95 and will be available from Clicks stores from Mid-July.
Max Factor Creme Puff Blush
Apparently these blushes are a dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushers – they are baked with multi-tonal pigments to illuminate and liven up the skin. If you watched our ‘April Favourites’ video, you will remember that I featured ‘Lavish Mauve’ as one of my favourites.
I have not stopped using this blusher since I got it almost 2 months ago, and I can safely say that it has cemented its place in my ‘favourite blushers’ list (in fact, it currently holds the #1 spot). The powder sweeps over the cheeks beautifully and leaves a gorgeous wash of colour that lasts all day. A total must have.
Available in four shades (unfortunately ‘Lavish Mauve’ isn’t one of them). Retails for R119.95 and will be available from selected Clicks stores from mid-September .
