There few products that brighten up the face quite like a bold, fuchsia lipstick and MAC Impassioned has long been my favourite of these. The Amplified (i.e. highly pigmented) formula is smooth and creamy and the colour is as opaque as they come. It’s one of the best lipsticks in my collection and one that I wish I wore more often.
I noticed the other day that I had another bright pink lipstick that was very similar and I thought I would compare them. It’s Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick in no. 11 “Fraise Remix” and the colours are indeed quite similar, although the Bourjois one is slightly more coral/orange-toned. The formula is also slightly more glossy and comfortable on the lips whereas Impassioned can be a little drying and benefits from a some balm underneath it. I also think the Bourjois lipstick is more wearable as the raspberry shade is more forgiving; definitely a better daytime option I think.
I still love Impassioned but the colour, comfort and overall effect of the Bourjois lipstick – plus it’s cheaper pricetag! – means I think it gets pipped at the post.
